Walk on the Wild Side – Winter Adaptations

Animals have lots of adaptations that allow them to survive in the cold winter temperatures. While much of the country bundles up during the start of 2018, here in southern Oregon we are still relatively mild.

The most common question visitors ask during this time of year is, “do the bears hibernate?” As Dave Siddon, Jr. explains in this week’s episode of a Walk on the Wild Side, it doesn’t get quite cold enough for the bears to need to hibernate. Watch the video to find out what does happen to the bears in the winter and for more ways the Animal Ambassadors keep warm during the winter months. Plus, Dave offers advice on what to do this time of year to help some of our wild friends.

In this episode, Dave talks about the many adaptations animals have to survive in the winter.
