  • Range in the Wild: United States - Eastern coast, as far west as Michigan, Illinois, Eastern Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas
  • Habitat in the Wild: open woodlands, pastures, marshy meadows
    • Diet in the Wild: snails, berries, fungi, slugs, worms, roots, flowers, fish, frogs, salamanders, snakes, birds, eggs, insects
    • Diet at Wildlife Images: leafy greens, veggies, fruit, mealworms, snails, crickets
    • Gender: Male

Darwin used to be someone’s pet, but he was brought to us when his owners could no longer provide care. He enjoys eating red food, interacting with people, burrowing, and racing around his water dish.

  • Educate people about the personal benefits of taking care of wildlife and the environment entrusted to our care.
  • Inspire people to make positive changes improving the world for wildlife.

We Need Your Help

With over 80 animal ambassadors, and over 1,000 sick injured and orphaned animals brought to our center each year - every dollar counts. We rely solely on people like yourself to support the work we do.

We receive no State or Federal funding and depend entirely on private funds to carry out our Mission.
