  • Range in the Wild: Northern Africa, SE Iraq and former Egypt, naturalized in Florida
  • Habitat in the Wild: Wetlands, mudflats
    • Diet in the Wild: fish, amphibians, small mammals, bird eggs, young insects
    • Diet at Wildlife Images: moistened dog kibble, fish, mealworms
    • Gender: Female

Pinocchio and Geppetto both court, construct a nest, and lay eggs every spring. They have never produced any young. These birds are “unconfirmed” female because we don’t know which one is laying eggs…or perhaps it’s both of tem!

We Need Your Help

With over 80 animal ambassadors, and over 1,000 sick injured and orphaned animals brought to our center each year - every dollar counts. We rely solely on people like yourself to support the work we do.

We receive no State or Federal funding and depend entirely on private funds to carry out our Mission.
