GET EXCITED! We certainly are!
As Wildlife Images continues to pursue it’s mission of Saving Wildlife we are making a BIG change. We are taking the final steps toward an Open Campus Model!
What does this mean?
The Open Campus Model allows a completely different way to experience Wildlife Images and meet the Animal Ambassadors. While we will still offer guided tours, we will no longer require visitors be part of a tour. Once we are fully open campus you’ll be able to walk around the facility at your own pace. This means if you want to watch the wolves for an hour … or more… you can! If you want to sit at Critter Creek and chat with Nestle – no problem!
How does this fulfill our mission?
Our mission of Saving Wildlife remains the same. The Open Campus Model will offer financial sustainability for the organization that will allow us to continue to meet and expand upon our mission of Saving Wildlife. The numbers of guests to be served is estimated to double from the current visitors. This will generate much needed sustainable revenue so that we can expand services to our wildlife education programs and fulfill our long-term vision: Wildlife Images Rehabilitation and Education Center is an educational leader that encourages a healthy co-existence with our wildlife neighbors. We commit our lives to the care of sick, injured, and orphaned animals.
What happens next?
For the past few years we have been taking small steps to make sure this new model it will be successful. During the first half of 2018, we took a lot of BIG steps like developing signs, installing additional security and fencing, and creating new opportunities for educational components. We have a few more steps to complete before we are ready. Which is why we need your help!
We want you to come out to our Open Campus Days over the next couple of months and let us know what you liked and how we can make the experience better.
It’s important during this time to stay up to date on which days we will be offering open campus opportunities and which days will only be for guided tours. You can access the latest information here on our website, on Facebook, by emailing our Guest Services Department or by calling 541-476-0222.
The first opportunity to experience open campus will be a Members Only Event. July 1st from 9:00 – 4:00. On this day we will be closed to the general public and only members will be able to get a first look inside our future. Memberships are available anytime online and will be available for purchase on the day of the event.
