At Wildlife Images we feed our raccoons through tubes, not bottles. While this may seem like a non-issue for people outside of the rehabilitation community, this change meant an increase in both efficiency and care for the young raccoon kits. Plus, it saves money!
Wildlife Images’ Clinical Specialist, Jen Osburn Eliot shares the story behind this simple, yet significant change in protocol…
We consider this a win/win/win for the raccoons, our staff, and our supporters!
We also teach our interns this protocol as they train with us. In the pictures below Jen watches as the two interns complete two kits each while reciting back the procedural steps. Once approved they will be checked off to feed kits (who have cleared quarantine) without staff supervision.
