Our first babies of the season have arrived! Seven baby squirrels are getting round-the-clock care as they quickly grow. These first babies are just a few of the hundreds that will come into the clinic for care. To care of baby birds, foxes, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, owls and more are holding a baby shower to provide Care, Comfort, and Warmth!
A vast majority of the 1000+ patients we care for are babies. As any parent can imagine we are flying through supplies. Instead of diapers and wipes, it’s things like q-tips, cotton swabs, and syringes. A product we go through quickly is called Miracle Nipples. These are specific for rehabilitation. With so many different sized babies we need both mini and regular sized.
Another item needed in the clinic is Snuggle Puppies. The Snuggle Puppies simulate breathing as well as mimic species and/or mothers. This is vital in reducing the stress of animals in human care. Stress can delay healing and sometimes be fatal so it is important to reduce stress as much as possible. We are looking for at least 4 Snuggle puppies are one brand but there are similar products here…
One of the most needed items is incubators. To provide baby animals of all kinds a warm spot to rest, recover and grow we need to new incubators. We currently have a few that are almost a decade old. While they work most of the time they are becoming somewhat unreliable. We are looking for help purchasing four Brinsea Travel Incubator that would provide opportunities to transport the babies with as little stress and disruption as possible.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Wildlife Images takes care of more than 1,000 patients a year. Almost all of those animals are brought in by the public with no cost to the rescuer. To help support all the babies extra needs we are encouraging families, schools, and other groups to join us in showering these babies with the supplies they need! From cotton swabs to gloves and Snuggle Puppies to incubators you can give these babies the gift of Care, Comfort, and Warmth!
